The following statement is from the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office:
Zumbotha Ahkilia Ibuyia Newsome, age 37 from Palmyra, VA is wanted by Texas authorities for his alleged involvement in a shooting in Houston Texas. Newsome is believed to have fled Texas. Newsome has ties to Fluvanna and Charlottesville. Below is an excerpt from the Houston Texas Police Department’s web site.
Zumbotha Ahkilia Newsome is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. He is not in custody. Newsome is accused in the killing of Damien Goss, 30, of Houston, who was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital. A photo of suspect Newsome is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rohling and Senior Police Officer B. Nabors reported:
Mr. Goss was in his vehicle and had stopped at the above location to pull into a driveway. Newsome, in a late model dark gray or black Chevrolet Impala, pulled up next to Goss’ car facing the opposite direction. Both men spoke briefly before Newsome shot Goss once. Goss was then taken by HFD paramedics to the hospital.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of suspect Zumbotha Newsome is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. A cash reward of up to $5000 is available for his capture.
Newsome should be considered dangerous and may be hiding out with friends and family in our area.
