This poem is a simple way of explaining how we as humans conform to the norm. This idea of “taking it with a grain of salt” can relate to anything and everything sociologically. We, as humans, have this societal structure where we are supposed to listen but not really “listen”. This is my adaptation of attacking a flawed societal structure in a metaphorical sense. This “Salt Emptiness”.
They say take it with a grain of salt,
As if your destiny was bought,
As if your soul was empty of thought.
They say take it with a grain of salt,
Like a thief who got caught,
Like a dream you once sought.
But if you take it with a grain of salt,
Where is the progress?
The protest?
The “I don’t need rest”.
With a grain of salt they say you should take,
But taking it with a grain of salt is a mistake.
