It was another successful year for the University Programs Council’s “Puppies and Pumpkins” event on the lawn. With help from the SPCA and Pet Pals, UPC hosted the free event for students to enjoy fresh pumpkin pie, apple cider, and cute puppies. Over one thousand people joined the event on Facebook, and throughout the day the event had a great turnout.
UPC members served 65 Harris Teeter pumpkin pies and many gallons of apple cider to the hungry students. Still, many attended the event simply to see the SPCA puppies. Unfortunately, the SPCA puppies arrived somewhat behind schedule, so those who got to the event early had to wait. However, some students brought their own pets to the lawn, which were a big hit. Maryann Chan, a third year, brought her pet rabbit, which gained a lot of attention from the crowds.
According to Shin Park, a second year, the event was a “nice break from studying” and he really enjoyed his slice of pumpkin pie. “It was a really nice day to bring everyone together,” he stated. Is there any better way to celebrate such gorgeous fall weather?
