Music to My Ears

I write this with a heavy heart…

I have an exam an exam at 9:00am this morning, but I can’t bring myself to study.
I’ve been reading a play all day, and it’s not many pages.

I’m not hungry, and I can’t sleep.

I’m mourning:

May 4, 2012, during the afternoon, my mom and I decided to go Walmart to buy a few groceries. On our way there, we heard “Shadrach” by the Beastie Boys. After the end of the song, the radio-host said, “Thanks, MCA, for all that you’ve done.” I assumed he was just giving MCA a shout-out. However, when we arrived home we discovered that he had lost his battle with cancer.

I remember when Adam “MCA” Yauch announced online that he had cancer. When he described it, I assumed it was Hodgkins Lymphoma, which is a highly-curable cancer. Therefore, I didn’t really bother following up with his cancer because I knew he’d be fine.

MCA was my favorite Beastie Boy.

I thought his rhymes were the best .”Don’t test me. They can’t arrest me. I’ll fake right cross-over and shoot lefty.” ßThose are lyrics from “Ch-Check it Out”.

For some reason, these are one of my favorite MCA lyrics…. I’m not really sure why.

This is such a terrible lost in the music industry.

R.I.P. MCA <3.
