On October 9th at midnight, the pop-country sensation Taylor Swift released her new single “I Knew You Were Trouble.” This EP is the third promotional single released to advertise for her fourth album Red – to be released on October 22, 2012.
The new song has received mixed reviews. It clearly leans more pop than country in its tones and has adopted a “dubstep–esque” music baseline that has upset some fans. Those who question the new single fear Taylor is straying from her country roots and pursuing a more mainstream approach. However, the other two singles released, “Begin Again” and “Red,” are more reminiscent of the singer’s earlier albums.
Regardless of the feedback, the new single – released 18 hours ago – has already hit the number two spot for highest downloads on iTunes. Taylor Swift’s new album may be titled Red, but it is obvious everything she produces is golden.
