Concert Review: Red Hot Chili Peppers

Back in December of 2011, I was stoked to know that the Red Hot Chili Peppers were going on tour. I found out they were going to be playing in Greensboro, NC (about an hour away from my hometown) in January, so I told my mom I wanted tickets to their show for my Christmas present. My mom bought the tickets, and the show was rescheduled for April 9, 2012. Anthony Kiedis suffered an ankle injury. Though I was highly upset that I had to wait three months, I can now say that the concert was well worth the wait! I’ve seen a few of my favorite bands in concert, but a dream of mine was to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers. As soon as they came on stage, I started crying (just a little bit). I also cried because they started off the concert playing a song I was not familiar with…at all.

With the exception of “Soul to Squeeze”, and “Scar Tissue”, they broke out into a jam session that would eventually turn into one of their songs. My favorites were the jam sessions they played before “Californication” (because I was certain they were going to play “Otherside”) and “Around the World” (because the guys were going crazy on stage).  They ended the concert by playing, “Give it Away”, and everyone in the audience was screaming at the top of their lungs.

Of course, I had to buy their overpriced merchandised. One of the t-shirts I bought says, “I’m With You, Greensboro” along with the date of the concert. It’s one thing to listen to your favorite band, but actually seeing them play your favorite song makes life a bit more enjoyable. The only negative thing I have to say about the concert was that it was too short. I never wanted to leave.

The Set List: “Monarchy of Roses”, “Can’t Stop”,  “Scar Tissue”,  “Dani California”,  “Look Around”, “Universally Speaking”,  “Strip My Mind”, “Suck My Kiss”, “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie”, “Me & My Friends”, “Factory of Faith”, “Under the Bridge” , “Higher Ground” (Stevie Wonder Cover), “Californication “, “By the Way”, “Around the World”, “Soul to Squeeze” (My favorite song), and “Give It Away”.
