Great music, large crowd, laughter, tears… and Dorito Dust. Those of you who went to O Records final concert of the year know what I’m talking about. The Spring Concert featured U.Va.’s finest ranging from rap to folk and classics to originals. The crowd could not have anticipated the pure and raw talent that O Records brought on Friday night.
Elijah Innes-Wimsatt, a second year mechanical engineering student, kept the crowd laughing as the host for the night. Elijah is the rising President of O Records, taking over after the talented Erin Lunsford. When referring to stepping in as President, Elijah said “I have some big shoes to fill.” Yet after singing his original song and seeing all of the girls swoon over his heartfelt lyrics, it’s pretty obvious we’ll see many more amazing performances from Elijah.
One of the first performances was by LNZ, a fourth year, who came out sporting sparkly, gold leggings and a jacket with the gold letters of her name on the back. She rapped about her struggles of getting off of “Dorito Dust” and she’s proud to proclaim that she’s 3 months sober. Needless to say, the crowd was laughing the entire time while getting to experience her extreme talent.
The entire O Records crew came up on stage to join the fourth years at the end
The night ended with a thoughtful dedication to the fourth years who performed their final concert… but only while at U.Va. After witnessing the brilliantly gifted fourth years (LNZ, Shivesh Puri, Kim McMasters, Nate Tenhundfeld, and Erin Lunsford) perform, it quickly became apparent that this was definitely not their last concert forever.
From the talented musicians to the incredible singers, the next O Records concert should not be missed.
